We’re a small group of outdoor enthusiasts from the Sea to Sky with a shared love for the outdoors and gear that actually holds up. After years of exploring trails, summits, destinations around the globe, and putting our equipment to the test. We realized we needed gear that could keep up with us. That’s how Katon Equipment was born. Built from experience and driven by passion, we’ve created a lineup of high-quality outdoor gear that we love and trust, and now we’re stoked to share it with others who live for the adventure too.

OUR TEAM
Knives and the outdoors have been a lifelong passion for us. Ever since we were kids, we’ve been fascinated by knives — just like many young adventurers. As we grew older and gained more experience, we realized that high-quality knives were often overpriced. That’s when the idea for Katon was born: to create reliable, durable knives that could handle anything we put them through, without breaking the bank. After years of design, development, and testing, we’re proud to share our knives with the world — tools built because we needed them, and shared because you do too.

KADE WINSTANLEY
Born and raised in Squamish, British Columbia, I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors — from the mountains and rivers to backcountry camps and everyday adventures. Growing up, I spent most of my time outside skiing, mountain biking, dirt biking, hiking, and just about anything that got me moving. Those experiences taught me the value of having dependable, well-made gear — equipment you can count on when the conditions get tough.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve carried a knife in my pocket. Over the years, that simple habit turned into a deep appreciation for reliable tools built with purpose. That passion led me to start this company — a small, independent outdoor equipment brand focused on craftsmanship, functionality, and trust. Every knife we make is something I’d rely on myself.

OWEN HESELDEN
I’m 18 years old and have spent my entire life exploring the outdoors. Ever since I was two, I’ve been hiking, biking, camping, skiing, and climbing — pretty much every adventure the Sea to Sky has to offer. Growing up surrounded by mountains and wilderness taught me the value of dependable gear, especially a good knife. Over time, I realized that most knives on the market were overpriced and often lacked true craftsmanship or durability. That’s what inspired us to start Katon — to build knives that could keep up with the kind of adventures we live for. Every blade we design is made to perform, last, and reflect the spirit of the outdoors that shaped who I am today.
